A life well lived. I have many happy memories of Christmas family gatherings at my grandparents house, a long time ago now but never to be forgotten. Peter was full of fun and enjoyed the banter and antics with other family members. This is how I will remember him, full of fun and enjoying life to the full. Peter was my uncle. A lovely man, full of kindness and laughter. You could guarantee that if he was going to be at a family gathering there would always be fun. Sorry to hear the sad news about your dad. It must be some 40 years since I last saw Peter, but I have fond memories of him from the days when we were travelling up to Dundee. He was always interested in what we were up to and always seemed to be into the latest gadgets. I do remember him at Ceilidh when we came back from our sailing trip to Norway sitting out front on the grass with a knotted handkerchief on his head clearly suffering from the effects of Mike Harris’s lethal homebrew. I also got a strong sense of what he was achieving in teaching when he took us around his school. I had never been around a big comprehensive and was amazed at the facilities and the relaxed atmosphere – kids coming in for a swim and breakfast before school! I also remember your mum and dad’s kindness to my parents, putting them up on their way up to Dundee, a trip that they found very daunting. Great to see the photos, your Dad obviously had a very full and varied life. I thought it was typical that even in June he was out on another new gadget – the e-bike. A kind and gentle man. Ian always regarded your mum and dad in the same light as his own parents. He saw them as a hard-working team who considered others but knew there was more to life than just work. Your father further showed his strength of character in the diligent way he attentively looked after your mother as her faculties and health deteriorated. We are sure you will be able to draw strength in your loss from the fact that your dad had a successful, happy and pleasure filled quality of life right through to his final years.
